ECB leaves rates unchanged at 1.00%

The European Central Bank (ECB) decided to leave rates unchanged at 1.00% as it was widely expected. In addition, the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 1.75% and 0.25%, respectively.

The President of the ECB, Jean Claude Trichet, will hold a press conference at 8:30 am EDT where further details about the meeting will be discussed.

The press conference following the meeting of the Governing Council of the ECB will take place in Frankfurt am Main at 2.30 p.m. C.E.S.T.

Trichet will have an introductory statement followed by a question and answer session at which registered journalists will be able to pose questions to Jean-Claude Trichet, President of the ECB, and Lucas Papademos, Vice-President of the ECB.
